E. Garrett Pratt M.D.
Dr. E. Garrett Pratt grew up in the world of Psychiatry, with a father and brother who now work in the same office in Ga, where Dr. Pratt initially planned to practice also. He started out in that office after high school and then off and on through college while studying as a psychology major at Tufts University in Boston.
After going to medical school in Detroit and starting residency at Emory University in Atlanta for Psychiatry, this turned out not to be the right path for him. After resigning from the first residency and taking a small break, Dr. Pratt instead went into Family Medicine. Psychiatry residency does not teach as much about general medicine, and many of the problems we think are psychiatric can instead be due to hormone imbalances and other general medical conditions. With a more well-rounded education, Dr. Pratt still focuses on Psychiatry within the scope of Family Medicine, but is also adept at many other aspects of medicine: minor office procedures, sutures for lacerations, hormone replacement therapies, travel medicine, PrEP for HIV, treatment for allergies and asthma, as well as general medical problems such as diabetes and cholesterol.
On the personal side, Dr. Pratt spends most of his free time with his family. He is the father of two young children, one girl and a younger boy, and another girl of the same age will be joining in, though her mother and Dr. Pratt are not yet married. The three of them together enjoy having a father who loves to cook, read stories in different accents and voices, and watch cartoons with them. When not spending time with the kids, Dr. Pratt is usually found playing pool well, and guitar poorly, at home. Other interests include camping, martial arts and visual art- mostly with pen and ink.
